Alan Hunt was formerly the Chancellor's Professor of Sociology and Law at Carleton University. He had a B.A. Hons. in Sociology; LL.B.; Ph.D. in Sociology ( University of Leeds, UK). His main fields of research interests included legal theory, sociology of law, the relationship between legal and social theory, social regulation and the way in which law interacts with other forms of control, with a particular interest in the regulation of consumption (e.g. alcohol, tobacco, etc.). He researched the relationship between moral and legal regulation with particular reference to the control of sexuality, prostitution and pornography. Alan Hunt (politician)
Alan John Hunt AM (9 October 1927 – 19 July 2013) was an Australian politician, having been a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1961 until 1992. Hunt started his education in South Australia and later attended Melbourne Grammar School. He then went to the University of Melbourne where he was a non-resident law student at Trinity College. He was president of the Melbourne University Liberals from 1948–50 and secretary of the then National Union of Australian University Students. After obtaining a law degree he practised as a solicitor until entering the Legislative Council in 1961, representing the Liberal Party. Hunt was first appointed as a minister in 1971, under the premiership of Henry Bolte. He served in a variety of portfolios under the Bolte, Hamer and Thompson governments, most notability as Minister for Local Government, Minister for Planning and Minister for Education. Alan James Hunt (born 27 September 1959) is a former New Zealand cricketer and current coach. He played 67 first-class and 37 List A matches for Auckland between 1980 and 1993. Hunt was a middle-order batsman and occasional off-spin bowler. His highest first-class score was 102 not out for Auckland against Otago in 1990–91. In List A cricket his best performance was with the ball, when he took 5 for 27 off nine overs against Canterbury in 1985–86. In January 1991 he captained the New Zealand Emerging Players team in a first-class match against the touring Sri Lankans. Alan Charles Hunt (born 5 March 1941) is a former British diplomat. He was educated at Latymer Upper School and at the University of East Anglia, where he obtained a first class degree in European studies. Allan Hunt (born February 12, 1945) is an American actor, probably best remembered as Crewman Stuart Riley from season 2 of ABC's ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea''. Biography Hunt trained at the Pasadena Playhouse, UCLA, American Conservatory Theater, and Seattle Repertory. After several small parts in his younger years he was cast in the second season of ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea''. He almost didn't get the part because Irwin Allen didn't like the idea of having another regular character who was taller than the series' lead actor Richard Basehart (who was 5' 8").
